David DeMatte, III, 57, of Vineland, NJ was surrounded by his loving family as he went home to be with the Lord early Saturday morning at his mother’s home, under the care of family & hospice. Dave was born and raised in Vineland, where he was a lifelong resident.
Dave was currently employed as the IT Mgr by Video Pipe Services in Newfield, NJ. Previously, he spent 29 years at the Daily Journal. At the Journal, he was a journeyman who climbed the ranks to IT Computer Systems Manager and was instrumental in pioneering their transition to a computer-based system. Dave enjoyed riding motorcycles and playing golf in his younger years, but what he cherished most was spending time with his friends & family, often sharing his knowledge of electronic & computer skills with his loving grandsons.
He is survived by 2 daughters: Traci & husband David Benowitz, Vld.
Katelyn DeMatte, New York City & her mother Sharon DeMatte, Mays Landing.
2 grandsons: Ryan & Corey Benowitz
Mother & Step Father: Florence “Chickie” & husband Bill Knorr, Vld.
Father & Step Mother: David A. DeMatte, Jr. & wife Rose Ellen, Vld.
And his very best friend Tommy Myers.
His funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Wednesday in the Sacred Heart R.C. Church, 1010 E. Landis Ave., Vineland, NJ with burial to follow in the Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery. Relatives & friends will be received on Tuesday evening from 7:00-9:00 PM & again on Wednesday from 9:00-10:00 AM at the Pancoast Funeral Home, 676 S. Main Rd., Vineland, NJ.
