Obituary:
Robert Haugen, 80, died on Wednesday at SJ Regional Medical Center in Vineland. Born in LaMoure, North Dakota, on May 9, 1930, he was the son of the late Hans and Nettie Haugen. Mr. Haugen farmed for several years before joining the US Army, where he served two years in Okinawa and two years as a Military Police Officer at Fort Dix during the Korean War. After military service, Mr. Haugen was part-owner of a gas station in Vineland, then worked for the Marcacci Fuel Company. He later worked five years as a motor vehicle inspector, then was employed as a commercial bus inspector for the New Jersey Department of Motor Vehicles. In 1986, he received a commendation from the governor as Employee of the Year for his work as a bus inspector. Community-oriented, Mr. Haugen served as a special police officer for the City of Vineland for fifteen years and as a volunteer firefighter for the Minotola Fire Company for nine years. He also volunteered at the South Jersey Medical Center in Vineland. He was a member of various civic organizations, including the Sons of Norway club, American Legion Post 270, the veterans of Foreign Wars, and was an honorary member of Fire Company 4 on North Main Rd in vineland. In his free time, Mr. Haugen enjoyed restoring old cars and was a member of the Cruising Classics Car Club in Hammonton. He also traveled extensively to Norway and throughout the United States. Mr. Haugen is survived by his wife: Frances His brothers; Kenneth and Leo and His sister: Sally Horpadle, as well as his step-daughter Debbie DelBeato, seven grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Ole and Harvey, his sister Hazel, his son, Robert Haugen, his daughter Sharon Stormes and his step-sons, Robert Lillio, Frank Lillio and Thomas Lillio. Relatives & friends will be received on Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Pancoast Funeral Home, 676 S. Main Rd Vineland, NJ & again on Monday 10:00-11:00 am at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 2384 E. Landis Ave. Vineland, NJ with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 am. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland, NJ
